Edward Gilliss was installed on June 17, 2006 as the new President of the Maryland State Bar. In attendance were Baltimore County Executive Jim Smith, Chief Judge Robert W. Bell, and hundreds of Maryland judges and lawyers. In an interview, Mr. Gilliss stated that "it's time to give MICPEL a push into the 21st Century with more electronic delivery of information."

The Annual Maryland State Bar Association meeting was held in Ocean City on June 16 and 17. One of the seminar topics was "electronic discovery," a discussion chaired by Paul Etheridge and Keith Truffer.
